Quick answers

Vietnam eVisa Photo and Passport FAQs

Top questions, in plain language.

Only if it meets the spec: 4 x 6 cm, white background, taken within the last 6 months, no glasses, neutral face. Many national passport photos use slightly different dimensions. Upload what you have, our team will tell you if it needs retaking.

Glasses must be removed for the eVisa photo, prescription frames included. No exceptions. Religious head coverings such as hijabs, turbans, or yarmulkes are permitted, but your full face from forehead to chin must be clearly visible, no shadows from the headwear.

Yes. A modern smartphone produces a photo that meets Vietnam Immigration quality. Stand in front of a plain white wall, use natural light, hold the phone at eye level, tap to focus, and ask someone else to take the shot for the cleanest result.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you intend to enter Vietnam. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying. Vietnam Immigration will reject applications with passport validity under 6 months.

Only the bio data page, the one with your photo, full name, date of birth, passport number, expiry date, and the two lines of machine-readable code (MRZ) at the bottom. Do not upload visa pages, blank pages, or the cover.

Vietnam Immigration requires at least 2 facing blank pages (one full spread) for the entry stamp. If your passport is nearly full, renew it before traveling.

Yes. A flatbed or document scanner works well. Set resolution to at least 300 DPI, save as color (not grayscale), and export as JPG or PDF.

Yes. Our reader extracts your details from the MRZ at the bottom of the bio page, which is always in Latin script on every internationally recognized passport. So it works for travelers from Cyrillic, Arabic, and Chinese-script countries equally well.

Damaged or torn bio pages, blurred photos, water damage, and missing corners are common reasons for entry refusal even with a valid eVisa. If your passport is damaged, replace it before applying. Send us a photo on WhatsApp if unsure.

Photo issues are one of the most common reasons for eVisa delays. Our team reviews and flags every photo before submission, so technical issues like wrong dimensions, file size, or background problems are caught early. We message you on WhatsApp if a retake is needed.

Yes. Vietnam eVisa photo specs are identical across all 80 eligible nationalities. The rules on this page apply to everyone.
